More BioBetina didn't pick up the guitar until she was out of college, but she'd been learning music since the age of 4. She's always composed songs. Once when she was a tiny girl her mother asked her if she would make up a song for her, and Betina replied, "No. I have to wait til it comes to me through the air." She studied jazz guitar with renowned teacher, Howard Morgen (www.howardmorgen.com). Vocally, she studied with Betsy Norden, who was previously a principal at the MET. Betina has toured the country as Meg in Webber's Phantom of the Opera, performed in NYC tap and modern dance companies, choreographed her own show, and much more. Betina is a Rennaissance woman, interested in all forms of expression and learning. She has a BFA in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College, and Dance Degree from the La Guardia H.S. of the Performing Arts where she received the Helen Tamaris award (most likely to succeed in any artistic field). Her CD project was put into gear when a DJ overheard her playing under a tree at the Planet Bluegrass Folk Festival in Colorado and requested that she send "Forever Eyes" to his radio station. Betina (Hugs Herself in a Rainpuddle) may be a performer, but she loves her alone time. She can be found reading poetry on the floor of Barnes and Nobles, or, in her more brilliant moments, by the ocean, arms spread, hurtling curly notes into the wind like dandelion seeds. |
